Frequently Asked Questions
At Footy for Tots, we know parents often have lots of questions before starting. Below we’ve answered the most common ones about our toddler football classes in Maidstone, Kings Hill and Peter’s Village – from free tasters and term bookings, to what happens when your Tot turns 5.

Q. Is football right for my Tot?
Absolutely! Football is a fantastic way to build your child’s confidence, coordination, movement, and social skills. All children are welcome, regardless of ability or gender.

Q. Which age group is right for my child?
We offer 2 age groups:

-
Little Boots: 18 months – 3.5 years

-
Big Boots: 3 years – 5th birthday

Tots usually remain in their age group for the full school year, but if a child is ready to move up (or needs a younger group), we’ll support that – depending on maturity, confidence and availability.
Q. Can my Tot join a different age group?
Yes. We sometimes move children between Little Boots and Big Boots if it better suits their development. Our classes are structured to match how children are able to take on intructions, play independantly and perfrom more football focused skills so transitions between age groups are smooth.
Q. My 4-year-old is already in school. Can they still join?
Yes. Children can continue in our Big Boots sessions until their 5th birthday, even if they’ve already started school or they can join our Saturday morning Mini-Soccer program.

-
We’ll offer alternative sessions where possible.

We’re always looking to add new venues and times – follow us on social media for updates.

Q. What should my Tot wear and bring?
-
Comfortable sporty clothes (not too loose)

-
Trainers or sports shoes

-
A drink (water or juice – no fizzy drinks please)

We also have our very own football kit that can be pourched via our online shop.

Q. What if we can’t attend a session?
Please email us if you can’t attend (including tasters).

-
We can’t refund or carry sessions into the next term.

-
Where space allows, your Tot may join another session in the same week.
Q. Do parents need to stay?
Yes. Parents/guardians must remain during the session to support, encourage and supervise their child. Some sessions involve parent participation too!
Q. What happens in bad weather?
-
Indoor venues: Sessions run as normal.

-
Outdoor venues: Sessions usually go ahead in light rain. If extreme weather forces a cancellation, we’ll notify parents as soon as possible by email/text.
Q. Are the coaches trained and checked?
Yes – all our coaches are:

-
FA qualified
 (Minimum Level 1)
-
DBS checked

-
Safeguarding & first aid trained

Your child’s safety and enjoyment always come first.
Q. What happens when my Tot turns 5 or starts school full-time?
When your child is ready to move on, you’ll receive an email (usually in Term 6) about the next step.

Children progress to our Mini-Soccer sessions on Saturday mornings – the perfect transition into grassroots football.
